What this test measures
This tool measures English transcription speed for 60 seconds. The timer begins on your first character. Its connected sentences come from Nyandyssey’s A2-oriented Learner’s Edition, whose story events were checked against Homer’s Odyssey and Samuel Butler’s public-domain 1900 translation.
WPM, or words per minute, uses the standard typing-test convention of five correct characters—including spaces—as one word. Typing 250 correct characters in 60 seconds therefore produces 50 WPM. CPM shows the same result as correct characters per minute.
Accuracy counts each position when you first type it. Correcting an error with Backspace does not erase the original mistake from the score. This makes the result a net measure of correct output, not merely the number of keys you pressed.
Your result stays in this browser tab and is not saved or uploaded. Continue with the Odyssey typing game.
